Congrats to Mariko Tamaki & Jillian Tamaki, whose SKIM just won the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Graphic Novel. Well-deserved!

definitely well-deserved. except.. it says here this Skim is a whole graphic novel, but the one i have is just a single issue but from the previews on Amazon it looks like the story starts out the same but the artwork is different... so confused!

Ah, you must have the original 24-page version they did with Kiss Machine. I don't have a copy of that but I think they did it back in 2005. Mariko also wrote SKIM as a play. Not sure which came first. Anyway, they later decided to re-do the comic and expand it into a full graphic novel for Groundwood Books.

i totally did not know that! i better pick up the book-length one, the Kiss Machine one was awesome but i wanted more! thanks for the info.
