RIP Nyac
Nyac, one of the Vancouver Aquarium's sea otters, passed away this morning. Like most people, I always enjoy visiting the otters when I go to the Aquarium. Nyac even got famous on the internet thanks to the following Youtube video of her and her companion Milo floating around while holding hands (Nyac is the one with the pale head).

When Nyac was just a little pup, she was rescued from the Exxon Valdez oil spill off the coast of Alaska in 1989. She reached 20 years of age, a good long life for an otter.

So sad. I cried a little when I heard the news.

Last night my mum told me about this and I immediately freaked her out by suggesting that there would be no more otter hand-holding at the Vancouver Aquarium. Then I had to make up a bunch of stuff about otters doing that in the wild constantly and how they'd ship in a left-handed otter for Milo from another respectable aquarium or oil spill within hours. DON'T WORRY MUM THE BOND WILL NEVER BE BROKEN.

But yes, goodbye Nyac. Last time I was there I could barely see her through the crowd, but the time before that I watched her eat squid.

Awwwwwww. I volunteered for the Aquarium for two years and got very attached to all the animals. The otters were one of my favourites.

We'll miss you Nyac.
